MY STORY
My journey to becoming an Acupuncturist was rooted in the desire to understand the interconnectedness of everything around me. I’ve grown very fond of the microcosm-macrocosm principle, which holds that the parts are a representation of the whole and vice versa. This concept can be applied to all levels of the human experience - it explains how we are intrinsically tied to nature and the elements around us, and how the collection of our physical & emotional experiences have shaped us into the unique individual that we are today and growing into tomorrow. I found that many of the answers I was seeking were deeply rooted within the Yin & Yang principles of Chinese Medicine, and I was called to embrace this nature-centered healing approach after experiencing its healing benefits first-hand.
I graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a Bachelor of Arts in Integrative Physiology, where I developed my understanding of the body from an anatomical perspective. I then obtained a Master of Science degree from the Colorado School of Traditional Chinese Medicine, where I fine-tuned my understanding of the body as an energetic system and harmonized the gap between Art & Science; Nature & Medicine.
I am a helper, a problem solver, a lifelong learner and an intuitive listener at heart, and will use these abilities to assist you in your wellness journey through a variety of lenses. I am grateful for the opportunity to work together, to learn together, and to grow together using the beautiful tools that Chinese Medical philosophy and Nature provides us. I believe wholeheartedly that this medicine has so much good & beauty to offer the world, and I’m honored to be sharing it.
On a more personal note, my hobbies & interests include live music & dancing, spending time with my fur babies, getting lost in a good novel, cooking, and learning— always learning!
WHAT IS FLOW STATE?
“Flow is the fundamental pattern of nature and the universe.”
We've all experienced those days of focus or alignment where we feel like an unstoppable force - things are just flowing with us in every direction and the energetic rush guides us through waves of motivation & euphoria. To be in a flow state is to be fully immersed in the present moment. The rest of the world could cease to exist as the mind operates at its fullest potential, and time dissolves into pure presence and happiness. The ripple effects of this experience can last for days.
Acupuncture treatments & accompanying modalities produce a very similar effect on the mind & body, as it works on the parasympathetic nervous system to reinstate the "rest and digest" mode and counteract the stress response common to daily life. The typical fast-paced American lifestyle puts our bodies into survival mode (“fight or flight”) and creates an environment that isn’t conducive for healing.
By empowering our bodies to better cope with stress, we engage in true preventative medicine. Stress is a likely culprit underlying most manifestations of illness or dis-ease, and let’s face it— we ALL have stress in some shape or form; it is the beauty & lesson, the Yin & Yang, of being human. And being human isn’t easy! We can’t always be in control. What we can control, is making room in our lives for opportunities to settle our nervous systems— to enter the Flow State— where stress can melt away and the body can get back to healing. Acupuncture gives this power back to the system— it reminds the body how to do what it’s meant to do.
I am passionate about the ripple effects of emotional well-being; if we feel good, clear-headed, informed and supported, we are empowered and strong in facing and addressing our stresses before they become a more complex health issue. Because almost every ailment can be traced back to stress— stress becomes fatigue, stress becomes pain, stress becomes hormonal imbalance, stress becomes hypertension, stress becomes a digestive disorder, and stress becomes insomnia. Stress becomes stagnation, and problems are bound to arise when things become stuck energetically and physically. Acupuncture has the ability to get things moving & flowing on these deeper levels by encouraging the Flow State that brings health, wellness, & vibrance with it.
